Blackwing Desktop Sharpener
The manufacturing of the sharpener is to what seems like fine tolerances. It sharpens easily and adequately but not superbly.
It has one helical cutter and it should have two for better balance and finish. The adjuster does not adjust sufficiently to range from regular to long point and the final point achieved is not as fine as a regular blade type sharpener,
I am tempted more now by the blackwing long point sharpener.
Where the desktop machine scores is looks and mess control. But in hindesight it is not as good as a good blade sharpener and I would say unless you need a volume sharpener or prefer a slightly blunter nib after sharpening - use the long point sharpener and save £££.
But as an object - it is beautiful. Touchable. so choose carefully.
